ShadoCon Announces New Contests and Shows;  Character Creation Contest, Ultimate Bishonen Showdown, Mecha Chocobo, Steampunk Dance Party, & the Pleasure Pixels.

Greetings, convention attendees and anime fans across the world! We here at ShadoCon have some more news for you about the exciting events happening at our con.

Character Creation Contest 

Once again, we will be having our Character Creation Contest! Artists of all types are invited to submit original characters. If chosen, these characters will be “chibi-fied” and used in the ShadoCon guide book and in various other ways around the con.  We will be selecting two male and two female characters to use. Rules for this contest can be found on the ShadoCon website.

Ultimate Bishonen Showdown 

We have a new competition premiering this year – the Ultimate Bishonen Showdown!

Are you the model every anime guy is based on? Is your sports ability only outshone by your charm and comedic talent? When you stop walking, does a convenient breeze always blow your hair back just so? If you answered yes to any of these questions, even if you are lying, you may be an Ultimate Bishonen! Formed by ShadoCon and KhaoticKon, the Ultimate Bishonen contest tests its participants in categories a bishonen should be good at – physical capability, sports talent, intelligence, charm, and comedic flair. Rules and audition information can be found on the ShadoCon website, so if you are interested please check it out!

Mecha Chocobo

“Wait, why is is Ash doing that to Pikachu?! That’s not what you do with pokeballs!” Well it is here! This is Mecha Chocobo where all our favorite fandoms go to die in a blaze of hilarious glory. Internet memes, pop culture, and all our fandoms collide in this heart wrenching stage spectacular. Mecha Chocobo is late night ‘R’ Rated show in the style of robot chicken filled with 2 types of jokes bad and worse. Our mission is make you’re eyes water whether its tears of joy and laughter or pain and sorrow (that choice is really up to you).

Come join us for an evening filled with great horrible scenes… or horribly great scenes? Either way make sure you bring your ID because this show is for 18 and up, no exceptions. (Sorry little Timmy this one’s not for you.)

Watch this crazy show at 10:30pm on Friday, Special Events room.

Steampunk Dance Party

Dealer room a bore? Already owned everyone in the game room? Can’t wait for the rave? Well loosen the gears, wind up those cogs, and throw some more coal in the ol’ steam engine as it’s time again for the crew of the Zephyrus to host The Steampunk Dance Party. Join us as DJ Rekon brings you some the steamiest beats from around the known world. Come learn some new dance moves, meet new friends, and dance your cares away. Steampunk attire is encouraged but is NOT required. Here on the Zephyrus we take you as you are, so join us as we bring back the Steampunk Dance Party.

The Party begins 9pm on Saturday, Special Events room!

Pleasure Pixels

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, come one and come all to the Special Events Room Saturday at 11pm! The Pleasure Pixels debut show is going to be HERE at Shadocon 2011! We are the hottest new burlesque Troupe in Tampa with a nerdy twist. Get ready to see your favorite Comic Book, Anime, and Video Game characters try their hand at Burlesque for our hour long show! We’ll have the sultry appeal of a classic burlesque show with modern influences and using your favorite characters. This will be the show of your dreams, so get there early because seating is limited. Due to the nature of this show, our audience will consist of patrons 18 and over and we will be checking at the door. For our debut show as a special promotional bonus we won’t be charging any cover, so enjoy our debut show for free! We can’t wait to see everyone there!
